This is what you will do

  • As an apprentice chef, you work under the independent cook. You are responsible for (pre)preparing dishes and preparing (auxiliary) equipment. You work according to set instructions or on the instructions of the independent cook.  
  • On a daily basis, you will contribute to providing the evening meal for restaurant 'At Table' for the benefit of City Monastery hotel guests and any booked lunches for groups. Finally, there is a small menu for the café and in good weather for the terrace.
  • You will assist in receiving and stocking inventory and assessing quality (freshness/stability) of products to be used. 

Here's what we ask of you 

  • You are enrolled or about to enroll in a relevant training program, or you already have some work experience in a similar position in the kitchen. 
  • You are eager to learn and open to feedback
  • You are willing to tackle things , you are goal-oriented and can handle stress.  
  • You are available to work flexible shifts, Monday through Sunday, including holidays

Salary is according to the collective bargaining agreement for the hospitality industry and depends on your specific experience in this position.

Stadsklooster Dordt is a unique experience.
For our guests and for our employees. We are located in a historic building with modern facilities and a warm atmosphere. That warm atmosphere will become a term for our organization, if it is up to us. Working at Stadsklooster Dordt means cooperating and building a new organization in the heart of Dordt. When we are at full strength, the team consists of 18 to 20 people.

We all do things a little differently than usual.
Our hostel guests stay overnight in a Pod. And in our restaurant Aan Tafel we 'eat what the pot calls'. Guests take a seat in the pews at our long tables for a tasty meal and a spontaneous meeting with others. Our chef prepares a variety of meals daily. We serve those at the table.
