Stadsklooster Dordt is a place of encounter and attention. Visitors can spend the night here in a historic setting, join us for a meal, work in a peaceful environment, or gather for consultation and inspiration.
The city monastery invites you to come in and take your time. To eat, work, stay, or simply be present together. In this way, even after three centuries, the building continues to do what it was always intended to do: bring people together.
Our history
Stadsklooster Dordt is located in the former Leprosy House on Vriesestraat, a monumental building that has been part of the city for 300 years. The building was rebuilt in 1725 on the site of the Holy Spirit and Plague House and for centuries served as a care facility for people who were excluded from society.
The Leprosy House provided shelter to the sick, the poor, and others who were vulnerable. It was not only a place of isolation, but above all a house of care, attention, and humanity. Over the centuries, the building served various functions, without losing its significance for the city.
In 2023, the building was once again given a purpose that befits its origins. As Stadsklooster Dordt, it is now a place where people can come together, receive attention, and feel welcome.
